Diversity and Inclusion: Moving Forward on Race, Ethnicity, and Beyond
As of this January 1st, 2020, publicly traded companies governed by the Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA) are required to disclose their policies and practices related to diversity. Canada is the first jurisdiction in the world to broaden diversity disclosures to include women as well as Aboriginal peoples, people with disabilities and members of visible minorities. What is the current state of play for diversity in Canada? What steps are needed to move forward? What role do investors have in engaging with companies about diversity? In this session, this panel will provide their perspectives on the issues and explore how and why investors should engage to improve diversity outcomes.
