Daniel Simard has been Executive Director of Bâtirente since 2000. The Bâtirente retirement system is open to unions affiliated to the Confédération des syndicats nationaux and their members and currently has over 20,000 active, inactive and retired members, with assets under management exceeding $ 590 million.
A Labour Relations graduate of the Université de Montréal, he is a Group-Annuity Advisor registered with the Autorité des marchés financiers du Québec. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment from 2006 to 2015.
For the past 25 years, he has served as a member of the pension committee and as a director of an insurance company. He was also a member of the Fondaction startup team during the first five years of the CSN’s labour fund. He currently chairs the audit committee of the pension plan of a major municipal corporation. Daniel worked for 15 years in various capacities within the CSN, mainly as a negotiator and a public prosecutor.
